Hyundai Motor Company is among the largest groups in Korea. After years of development, the former Korea's first-class enterprise has become a world-class one, which has been listed in the world top 500.

Guangzhou Automobile Group Co., Ltd. (GAC) and Korea Hyundai Motor Company (HMC) plan to make a joint investment of 50 to 50 share proportion to construct in Huadu the Guangzhou Hyundai Commercial Vehicle base, and establish a joint venture, which enjoys the independent status of legal person. Guangzhou Hyundai Motor project, with an estimated total investment is USD1.24 billion, will have an initial investment of USD 430 million, capable of producing 200,000 commercial vehicles of various types per year. This joint venture, with a scale advantage, will have the ability of R&D, manufacturing, sales, and providing after-sale service for the whole car, as well as for the engines and other main parts of the commercial vehicles. A R&D centre for commercial vehicle will be also set up, which will become one of the main R&D centers of HMC in the world. GAC and HMC, making use of GAC's present sources in commercial vehicle, are determined to build their joint venture into a first-class commercial vehicle producer in China.

Presently, some of the works, such as land requisition, relocation, aftercare, civil supporting facilities, have been partially completed, with other works being carried out synchronously.
